Ted Turner Buys Atlanta Braves

On January 6, 1976 Ted Turner buys the Atlanta Braves for $12M.

Communications executive and worldwide yachting enthusiast ‘Captain Ted’ purchased the club in hopes of providing sports content to Channel 17.

The FCC would allow stations to broadcast by satellite and shortly the Tribe would be known as America’s Team.
